July 2023

Message from Pam Davis, SVP Branch Delivery and Operations

Delta Community SVP Pam Davis

Dear Valued Member,

As we enter the second half of 2023, I want to reiterate our commitment to you, our member, and update you on our efforts to better meet your evolving financial needs.

Member Satisfaction is one of the key metrics we use to determine our overall corporate performance, and it is based on the findings of monthly and annual surveys of members like you. The annual survey is conducted by the Raddon Financial Group and seeks feedback from 30,000 of our members. I am pleased to say that, for the fifth consecutive year, our member satisfaction score has been ranked highest in the nation among participating credit unions. We know we have to earn those scores every day, and we will continue to work hard for you.

During the first six months of the year, we have made significant progress towards providing greater value for our members through several key initiatives:

  • In June, we relocated our Midtown Branch to a larger, more convenient space in a shopping center at 1745 Peachtree Street NE, Suite B. The new Buckhead-Midtown Branch houses a full member service team delivering personalized, reliable support, and features two of our growing number of new, innovative Live Teller machines—one at the front of the building for walk-up, pedestrian traffic and one in the rear parking lot with drive-up access. Read more about the new location in the story below.
  • We continue to add Live Teller machines in both branch vestibules and drive-thru lanes at many of our locations to better serve our members. Live Teller provides interactive video chat so members can both see and talk with a teller directly, even outside of normal branch hours or during peak hours when lines might be longer. With Live Teller, you can cash checks, perform deposits and withdrawals and make payments and transfers, just like you would with a teller in a branch. This new technology will not replace our valued employees but instead supplement their efforts to provide superior member service.
  • While many members enjoy the convenience of Online Banking and our Mobile App, we understand the importance of having a conveniently located branch to visit when the need arises. Delta Community strives to open one new branch in the metro Atlanta area annually. We are actively evaluating potential sites in Paulding, Rockdale and Spalding counties along with infill opportunities elsewhere.
  • I’m excited to announce that, in addition to our existing free Checking Account, we will be expanding our checking suite with two new products to better meet members’ differing needs. Our new Interest Checking Account is designed for members who typically carry higher balances and will offer the ability to earn interest to help that money grow. Our new SpendSafe Checking™ Account will have no overdraft fees for insufficient funds offering peace of mind to confidently manage your finances. This account is perfect for teens or those with balances that may fluctuate or run low. We look forward to sharing more details of these new accounts in the coming months.

Thank you for allowing Delta Community to assist with your financial needs. Our goal is to provide our members with “Full Service, Full Satisfaction” throughout their lives.

Best wishes,

Pam Davis

$10,000 Awarded to Two HBCU Students

Delta Community HBCU Scholarship Recipients

In May, Delta Community and Atlanta radio station V-103 presented our first HBCU Scholarships of 2023, awarding $5,000 each to Isaiah Cox and Sydney Redmond.

Isaiah Cox is a rising junior studying pharmacy at Florida A&M University (FAMU). He is already licensed in the state of Georgia as a pharmacy technician, and his significant academic achievements include membership in the Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Societies. Since his freshman year at FAMU he has maintained a 3.5 grade point average. To supplement his academic studies with additional experience, in 2022, Isaiah completed the program at the Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute, and he will be interning at Northwest Medical Center Houghton in Tucson, Arizona, during the summer of 2023. His many extracurricular activities include holding leadership positions both with Progressive Black Men, Inc., a community service organization, and with the FAMU chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Over the last year he also completed more than 300 hours of community service as a chemistry and math tutor, elementary school mentor, and community service worker with a local homeless shelter. Isaiah is from Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Sydney Redmond will be a 2023 freshman at the Honors College at North Carolina A&T where she will major in health sciences. Her career ambition is to become a dentist providing dental services to underserved communities. This year she was a Healthcare Pathway student ranked in the top 10% of her graduating class at Heritage High School with a 3.93 GPA. Her academic honors and activities include membership in the National Honor Society and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; she was also a writer and reporter for her high school’s yearbook. In addition to her school involvement, Sydney has worked at a Publix® supermarket for two years. Her extracurricular activities include serving on the Make-A-Wish® GA Youth Leadership Council, where she helps plan and lead fundraising activities to raise money for granting wishes to critically ill children. Since middle school, Sydney has logged between 50 and 75 community service hours volunteering for Med Share, participating in park cleanups, supporting the State of Georgia’s Adopt-A-Highway program, contributing to letter-writing campaigns for nursing home residents, and helping build Habitat for Humanity® homes. Sydney is also a member of INROADS®, which has programs to advance diverse youth in corporate America.

Throughout 2023, Delta Community will award a total of $20,000 in scholarships to students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The HBCU Scholarship is part of our annual Scholarship Program. Visit our website to learn more about all of the scholarships we offer.

  • Safely Clear Your Old Mobile Phone’s Data Before Getting a New Phone: It could be unsafe to have an old mobile phone with your personal details end up in the hands of a stranger, even if it’s someone who has no interest in getting into someone else’s data. If a hacker got access to your phone, then your money, credit standing, accounts and reputation could face serious—and maybe permanent—loss and damage. The only person who should have control over a mobile phone’s contents is its owner. If it’s time to move to a new phone, then it’s time to both secure and delete what’s on your old phone before the new phone is activated.
